Glimlachjes, gegiechel, grinniken, schaterlachen.. Eindelijk mogen ze weer gezien worden. Lachen is aanstekelijk én gezond!
Samen lachen verbindt alle leeftijden, soorten, maten en talen. Daarom verzamelden we tijdens Glow en Dutch Design Week 2021 Eindhovens gelach met de installatie Hahaha. In ruil geeft ze je een glimlach op je gezicht, om mee naar huis te nemen. Want, lachen is een virus dat wél verspreid mag worden!
Hahaha is een interactieve installatie die met iedere glimlach die gedeeld wordt groeit. Zo zwelt er langzaam een daverend lachsalvo aan. Na een periode met uitdagingen, isolatie en eenzaamheid zijn we toe aan verbinding, samen zijn en positieve vibes. Hahaha wil weer een lach op het gezicht toveren bij inwoners en bezoekers van Eindhoven.
Het is tijd dat het lachvirus zich weer door de stad en straten verspreidt.

DDW 2021 stond in het teken van ‘the Greater Number’. Hoe kunnen ontwerpers bijdragen aan een betere wereld? Waar we het produceren van spullen en afval vooral willen minderen, hebben we van samen lachen nooit genoeg. Tijdens Glow in het voorgaande jaar (2020) riep onze installatie ‘Separated not Isolated’ op om leefwerelden binnen de bubbels van isolatie te verbeelden; een kijkje achter de ramen van mede-Eindhovenaren. Met het thema ‘Moved by Light’ van Glow 2021, hopen we dit jaar Eindhoven te bewegen met aanstekelijke positieve vibes.
Voor deze gelegenheid ontwikkelden Isis Boot, Luuk Thijssen, Laurie Roijackers, Marijn Smits en Mandy Ouderland vorm en concept van de interactieve installatie Hahaha – alias De Lichtstad Lacht – te zien in de etalage van Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

Smiles, giggles, chuckles, laughter… Finally, it’s time to show them again. Laughter is contagious and healthy for body and mind!
Laughing together connects all ages, shapes, sizes, and languages. Therefore, we decided to collect smiles during Glow and Dutch Design Week 2021 with the installation Hahaha. In return, it would create a smile on your face to take home with you. Because laughter is a virus that can be spread!
Hahaha is an interactive installation that grows with every smile shared. A thunderous burst of laughter slowly swells. After a period of challenges, isolation, and loneliness, we are ready to re-connect and be together with positive vibes. Hahaha wants to put a smile on the face of residents and visitors of Eindhoven again. It’s time for a cheerful virus to spread through the city and streets.

Theme of DDW 2021 is ’the Greater Number’. How can designers contribute to a better world? Where mainly, we want to reduce the production of stuff and waste, there are never too many smiles. In the previous year, during Glow 2020, our installation ‘Separated not Isolated’ was an invitation to depict life in isolation, a glimpse from behind the windows of fellow Eindhoven residents. With the theme of Glow in 2021 ‘Moved by Light’ we aim to move Eindhoven with infectious positive vibes.
For this occasion, Isis Boot, Luuk Thijssen, Laurie Roijackers, Marijn Smits and Mandy Ouderland developed form and concept of the interactive installation Hahaha – aka De Lichtstad Lacht – on display in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
